The New York-based alt-punk trio For Lack of a Term have recently announced their forthcoming EP, Not Quite You, set for release on April 10. Alongside the announcement, they released two singles from the project, “Chemistry Imbalance” and “Heartbeat.” Both tracks are designed to tell a connected story about the emotional push and pull of holding on to a relationship that’s already fallen apart. Watch the music video HERE.
Conceptually, Not Quite You explores themes of lost love, relationship struggles, and personal growth. Sometimes when you evolve as a person, you leave behind the things and the people that once felt most comfortable and familiar to you.
The band shared their sentiments on the announcement below:
This EP’s about the five stages of grief when it comes to the life and death of a relationship and it’s about personal growth. The clarity that comes after separating from
something toxic, it was adjacent to things each of us were experiencing or have experienced at one point or another. However, out of poor circumstance we created something beautiful with the assistance of our friend Sam Stauff. We are proud to present ‘Not Quite You.’
Recorded and produced fully independently, the EP features five intentional tracks that showcase the band’s melodic alt-punk sound and emotionally driven songwriting.
1. Chemical Imbalance
2. Now & Forever
3. Big Mad
4. Heartbeat
5. Barely an afterthought

Leading up to the EP’s release, For Lack of a Term will perform three hometown shows across New York in April with the pop punk band Ghost Tour stopping in Brooklyn, Yonkers, and Lindenhurst.
The band also teamed up with @endlesslifebk to brew a lager to commemorate this release, which will be available at the following locations next week, courtesy of @birdsbeerdistribution.
